About Us

Ben = (written by Lauren)
Much to Bens dislike, we actually met at a local music venue, Velour. It was battle of the bands and seeing as there wasnt anything else more appealing going on that night, I started texting the masses seeing if anyone else was interested as well. My friend Shelbie agreed to go and much to my surprise my friend Max not only agreed to come, but asked if you could bring a friend as well. Needless to say, that friend was Ben. Who would have thought that night would be so fateful? So after a night of music, frozen hot chocolate, and singing embarrassely loud in the car, I decieded that Ben was one of the most intriguing people I had met and needed to know more.

So being an independent woman of the modern age I did what every self-respecting girl did after she meets a guy she finds interesting, I facebook stalked him. Not only did I do that, but I was bold enough to add him as a friend AND give him my number in a message. Yes, yes, i realize how pathetic it was. However, it paid off! After about a month of texting, invites to parties that neither of us followed through, Ben showed up at the Quarry one night while I was climbing. And yes, the rest was history. Just for fun, I went and found the original Facebook message. Yes, i did actually write and send this.(I believe he had made a comment about adventuring sometime)

Heading: Adventuring
So this is my week of finals, which makes adventuring slightly more difficult. However after Thursday I am FREE, so let's live life then yes? Roadtrip? Climbing? I want to go somewhere I have never been...

How embarrassing is that?! What can i say? When I want something I go for it. The next 6 months were filled with adventures, climbing, day and nights filled with conversation and laughter. Ben is constantly making me laugh has the unique ability to make everyone feel comfortable. Ben never judges, always accepts and has one of the biggest hearts I know. He has a calm and quiet quality about him that keeps me sane. He is a gear-head when it comes to his outdoor equipment and toys, and takes great pride in everything he does. He is a self described "Proud Dog Dad" to his amazing dog (and first child) Hoss. The first thing his family asked me when I met them was, "Have you met Hoss?" Getting to know Ben has been a wonderful whirlwind adventure, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

Lauren = (written by Ben)
It all began on a cool winters evening.  I was sitting at home, playing Dungeons and Dragons with my online pals, when my phone rang.  It was my friend Max.
"Hello Max." I said
"Hey Ben.  Want to go down to Provo with me?"
"Why? You know I cant stand Provo."
"I have some friends playing at Velour.  Its a battle of the bands kinda thing."
I knew I would regret going, but figured I should get out of the house.  D&D would be waiting for me when I got back.
"uhhgg..." I said inside a sigh. "Sure".
So I headed down to Provo to stretch my legs and feel like a 16 year old hipster.
BEST DECISION EVER!
Half an hour and 5 dollars later I found myself wishing I was back in my basement.
But the night wasn't a total loss.  I met a girl.  A pretty one, a fun one, a smart one, and last but not least, one that would speak to me.  My dream girl.
After a short night of local music and frozen hot chocolate, we parted ways.  ....I should have asked her if she had a cell phone.. or if she liked zombies...
Weeks went by but the snow struggled to fall.  Slacklining remained.  I posted on facebook, "December 12th and I'm still slacklining barefoot."  To my surprise, the girl of my dreams commented on this post, and even gave me her number.  She did have a cell phone!  That's when I started getting confused.
After waiting the socially acceptable 24 hour period, I shot her a text.  "Hey there QT want 2 hang 2nite? :)"
Her response shook my ego.
"No".
A simple no...  I couldn't believe it.  Here she is, giving me her number and telling me she wants to hang out and go "adventuring", but when I ask her to, I get a "no".  Maybe it was the way I asked.  Well, winners never quit, so I again waited the socially acceptable rejection time period of 1 week.  "Hey, wanna have a party?"
She replied the way most Dream girls do to nerdy boys.
Nah.. not really my thing.  But lets hang out out soon."
Now my confusion was at full force.  I asked friends, I read books, I took medication, all in hopes of solving my brain scrambling situation.  No luck.  So I did what all hopeless young men do when rejected, pester the girl you want until they give in.  Finally, she agreed to meet me at the climbing gym.  Maybe it was seeing me not able to climb anything (the pity factor) or maybe she had just forgotten how handsome I was, either way, she was smitten.  After a few weeks of hanging out and sitting through a lot of teenage drama television shows, we became "official".
